Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup Preliminary Round Two Results

The Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup continued this weekend as 13 ties were decided in Preliminary Round Two, with goals, close contests and a number of impressive performances across the country.

Another competitive weekend produced 64 goals across the 13 ties as clubs continue their pursuit of Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup glory.

From high-scoring victories to hard-fought one-goal wins, there was plenty of excitement as clubs battled for a place in the next round of Scotland’s premier knockout competition.

Shetland Women’s cup journey continues as they produced one of the weekend’s standout results, travelling south to record a 3-1 victory over Aberdeen West End.

The visitors held their nerve to secure a two-goal margin and book their place in the next round.

Bayside edge Drumchapel

One of the closest contests of the round came at Bayside Ladies, who edged a five-goal thriller against Drumchapel United. Bayside eventually came out on top 3-2 to secure their place in the next stage.

Dalkeith Thistle Ladies were among the weekend’s biggest winners, putting nine past Gretna FC Ladies in a commanding 9-1 victory. Dalkeith’s eight-goal winning margin saw them progress in emphatic fashion.

Thornton Hibs hit six

There was another high-scoring encounter at Danderhall Miners, where Thornton Hibs claimed a 6-2 victory. Ross County secured a 2-0 away victory over Dundee West. Two goals proved enough for County to keep a clean sheet and progress from the tie.

Edinburgh Uni Thistle comfortable winners

Edinburgh Uni Thistle produced another convincing performance, defeating Edinburgh Caledonia 5-0.

There was little to separate Gleniffer Thistle and Alloa Athletic, with the hosts eventually claiming a narrow 1-0 win.

Central Ladies produced the highest-scoring result of the round, defeating Houston United 11-3.

Harmony Row progress

Harmony Row WFC secured a 3-1 home victory over HCF Women. The result sees Harmony Row advance along with Musselburgh Windsor who saw off Cumnock Juniors with a convincing 7-1 win.

The final tie saw Stoneywood Parkvale FC Women claim a narrow 2-1 victory over Penicuik Athletic. The home side held on to secure a hard-earned win and a place in the next round.

Arbroath progressed with a 3-0 victory over Linlithgow Rose after their opponents forfeited the tie. Loanhead Ladies also forfeited their tie with Jeanfield Swifts awarded a 3-0 win.

The road continues

With the Preliminary Round Two ties now complete, the focus turns to the next stage of the competition with the Round One draw taking place at Barclays Hampden tomorrow.

The draw for the first-round proper will consist of the thirteen preliminary round two winners and eleven clubs will enter from SWF League One.
