Fresh from their Commonwealth Games heroics, Team Scotland's medal-winning pair Reuben Ward and Cameron Lynn were on hand to conduct the latest Scottish Gas Men's Scottish Cup Draw which took place at Barclays Hampden this evening.

Ward won a famous gold in the all-around final, while the pair then made history together by becoming the first two Scottish gymnasts to win medals in the same individual event at the Commonwealth Games, with Ward collecting the silver and Lynn the bronze in the pommel horse.

The medallists joined host Adam Binnie at the National Stadium on Monday evening to draw the 10 ties that made up the Third Preliminary Round, which will be played on the weekend of Saturday, 12 September.

Speaking after the draw, Ward - who won gold and silver on his Commonwealth Games debut - admitted that it was an emotional experience to achieve such success in front of his home crowd.

He said: "I think going on, I wasn't the favourite for the all-around so it was a little bit unexpected. I knew myself that I could do it but to do it on the day was tough.

"After the second piece, I was in the first place so after every apparatus they kept announcing it to the arena that I was first and then the crowd would go mental.

"And I'm just thinking, 'oh my God'. The pressure was building and building and building, so to hold my nerve throughout the entire competition, I'm proud of that. I can't fully describe the emotions of it, but it was incredible.

"There was a little bit of a come down to be honest after games but I'm back to it. I'm enjoying myself and I'm ready for the next thing, with short term being the World Championships in October in Rotterdam.

"I'm feeling confident, but you never know what's going to happen with selections so I'm just hoping for the best to get on that team and then try and show the world who I am.

"Then the big one is the Olympics in LA - everything I do is towards that. Commonwealth was a massive step towards that so I'm excited and I'm working hard to get there."

Lynn, meanwhile, was captain of the Scotland gymnastics group as he competed in his second Commonwealth Games. He admitted it was a full circle moment for him, after watching Glasgow 2014 as a youngster.

He said: "Being the team captain, it was a real honour and pleasure and falling just short in the team final at the end was really tough.

"But I think me and Reuben came together as two individuals and thought, you know, if we win these medals for Scotland, it's not just for us, it's for our full team as well.

"When I won the medal in pommel, I've probably watched those reactions back a thousand times now and that moment when I finished the routine and I saw everybody in the crowd literally stand up and they were cheering their hearts out, it was something that I can't describe.

"Every time I stepped out onto that floor, I was just having the best time of my life. It didn't matter if I did a good routine or a bad routine, embracing the crowd and having so much fun is what I took from it and that's what I'm going to try and take into every competition.

"It's kind of a full circle moment, isn't it? Because like we both watched 2014, and it really strived us on to make the Commonwealth Games.

"To take on that role as being the one inspiring, it's a different role and it's something that nobody ever really prepares you for.

23-year-old Lynn also reflected on his love for Championship side Greenock Morton, and favourite memories of the Scottish Cup, adding: "My dad's a really big Morton fan and he had the season ticket for a long time.

"I remember going and watching Morton all the time at Cappielow and I stayed in Stirling as well so I used to go and watch the games against Stirling Albion.

"I think Scottish football is pretty unique and I love watching the games in person. You can go watch it down south and it's in big stadiums and stuff like that but nothing beats Scottish football for me.

"There aren't too many Scottish Cup memories from a Morton point of view but last year I remember watching Aberdeen's win in the gym because a lot of the boys that I train with are Aberdeen fans. So I remember watching it and it was just mental - what the Scottish Cup is all about."
