Affectionately known as ‘McGov’, the striker looks back on the moments that mattered on her journey to spear-heading the Scotland Women’s National Team.

McGovern has already experienced some memorable milestones in her international career, but few will match the moment she found the net for the first time.

The 24-year-old scored her first Scotland goal away to the Netherlands in 2025. Reflecting on the occasion, McGovern admitted the significance of the moment only really began to sink in after the final whistle.

For any player, scoring a first international goal is a landmark moment. For McGovern, it gave another indication of the progress she had made, from representing at youth age groups to battling her way into the first team.

Now, with World-Cup qualifiers on the horizon, McGovern is hoping to add more chapters to her Scotland story:

From representing her country to experiencing the pressure and excitement of winning the league with Hibernian on the last day of the season, each moment has added to her experience and helped shape her career to date.
