He will work with Craig, and the new football leadership team, on the creation, implementation and review of a new football strategy that incorporates coach education, men’s national youth teams and elite pathways, women’s national youth teams and elite pathways, community and grassroots football.

Most recently, Graeme served as Managing Director of Ayr United, having previously worked his way up from Head of Recruitment to Sporting Director at Hibernian.

The Scottish FA’s Chief Football Officer, Craig Mulholland, said: “Graeme is an important appointment for us, and we’re delighted to be adding him to the football leadership team.

“His remit will be both operational and strategic, while his relevant and varied experiences in football will allow him to successfully lead varied multi-disciplinary teams.

“He cares passionately about Scottish football. I know how committed he is to the game in this country at all levels.

“Critically, he’s not afraid to challenge established processes, and is an innovative thinker, which will be required as we continue to work creatively and drive positive change.”

Graeme Mathie added: “I’m delighted to be joining the Scottish FA at what feels like an exciting time for the game, with a real opportunity to help shape positive change across Scottish football.

“I’ve been involved in grassroots and academy football through to the senior game, and I’ve always had a genuine desire to see the game in this country become the best version of itself that it can be. It’s why I volunteered to serve on both the SPFL Board and the Scottish FA’s Professional Game Board in recent years.

“I’m grateful to Craig Mulholland for giving me this opportunity, and I’m really looking forward to joining the team, contributing my experience and playing my part in what comes next.”
