Josh McPake won his first Scotland senior call-up in September 2026, capping a remarkable comeback in a career that appeared to be stuttering.
A promising talent at Rangers, McPake made his debut aged just 17 in a European match against Gibraltese side St. Joseph's, while he was a regular for Scotland throughout the age groups.
But he would make no further appearances for Rangers, making six different loans to the likes of Dundee, Greenock Morton, Morecambe and Harrogate, before joining Stirling Albion permanently in 2024.
It was at Forthbank that McPake kickstarted his career, enjoying a productive few months and earning a move to Championship side St Johnstone.
One of the stand-outs during the Championship league title-winning season in 2025/2026. McPake signed a pre-contract with Heart of Midlothian.
And McPake announced himself to the Hearts faithful in style in September 2026 as he put in a man of the match performance at Easter Road, scoring a superb goal and recording an assist in a 3-1 victory against rivals Hibernian.
Scotland Head Coach Sebastien Pocognoli was in attendance that night and McPake's performance caught the eye, earning him a spot in the Belgian's first squad announced for the UEFA Nations League matches.
